In 1984 the dealership became the new site of Troy’s Education Opportunity center (EOC) [10]. The EOC remained at the dealership location until late 2013/ early 2014 [11]. After the EOC left the site United Group announced that it planned to use the site for the 4th phase of its city station project in 2013 [12]. In 2018 the united group announced that they planned to fill this fourth phase (city station north) with offices and apartments [13]. In February of 2024 United group received financing from Berkshire bank towards this project [14]. In July of 2024 united group broke ground on this project, and expect to complete construction by 2025 [15]. | |||

Introduction
Bumstead Chevrolet was a car dealership located in downtown Troy at the corner of Congress St. and 6th Ave. It was founded in 1925 and closed in 1983.
History
Bumstead Chevrolet was Founded in 1925 by William Howard Bumstead [4], around 1950 ownership was transferred to James K. Patrick (son in law), who owned the dealership until 1981 [1] [3], the dealership continued to operate for another 2 years before being sold in 1983 [2]. Under the ownership of James Patrick, Bumstead Chevrolet became one of the biggest Chevy Dealers in New York state.[1]
In 1962 Bumstead Chevrolet offered to build specialty truck bodies Truck bodies[5]. One of the first ambulance for the North Greenbush ambulance company was built here from a dodge delivery truck [6].
